Grado Prestige Blue1 pickup
The Grado systems of the Prestige series work according to the MI (Moving Iron) principle. This type uses quite large fixed coils with fixed magnets. The needle carrier simply induces the desired voltage in the coils via a moving, magnetically active material (usually soft iron/nickel). The voltage values generated are usually large enough to connect the MI system to the MM input of the phono amplifier.
The MI systems, such as the Grado Prestige series, react less to cable capacities, but are more susceptible to electromagnetic interference. Therefore less for friction wheel classics like Garrard 301 or Thorens TD 124, but rather for turntables with an external motor socket.
The pickups in the Grado Prestige series all have the same generator and needle inserts, the difference can only be seen in the selection of the system. Here the systems are checked and divided into the colors red, green and blue depending on the measured values.
The systems are ideal for medium-heavy tonearms (dynamic mass 10-18 g).
