ETERNA Collection Modest Mussorgsky - A Night on the Bald Mountains - Pictures at an Exhibition - 180 gram vinyl
This special pressing includes 11 vinyl LPs, which were re-pressed by edelclassic in 2008. The original tapes were pressed by Eterna onto 180 gram vinyl using the DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) process.
The DMM cutting process was introduced in 1981 by the Teldec company (Telefunken-Decca) in cooperation with Georg Neumann, as a further development of lacquer cutting. The clay material (here from the original Eterna bands) is cut into a copper-coated stainless steel plate using a diamond-studded cutting burr.
The original recording was made in Berlin (Grunewaldkirche) in 1960 and published by VEB Deutsche Schall Platten Berlin in 1962.
